In short

OmsiWorld is a mod archive. We do not sell personal data, run advertising trackers, or try to build profiles of visitors. We only keep what is needed to run the site safely and to power optional features you choose to use.

What stays on your device

Some preferences are stored locally in your browser (for example via localStorage). They are not used as a server-side tracking ID.

  • Favourites - mod IDs you heart, so your list can be shown again.
  • Continue browsing - recently viewed mod IDs.
  • Guide feedback - remembers if you already voted on a guide tip.
  • Discussion identity - optional name / trip secret if you tick “Remember on this device” (stays in your browser only).

Clearing site data in your browser removes these. Avoiding Favourites / Continue browsing means those features simply will not remember anything.

Cookies & session

We use a normal website session cookie so the site can work (for example CSRF protection, contact and discussion spam checks. This is necessary for the site to function and is not used for advertising.

Information we may temporarily store on the server

  • IP address - used for abuse prevention (download limits, login attempt limits), likes, discussion posts awaiting moderation, and contact messages. We do not use this to identify you as a person for marketing.
  • Contact messages - whatever you send via the contact form, plus basic metadata needed to handle the message.
  • Discussion posts - name/trip you choose to provide, message text, and related moderation data. Posts are reviewed before they go live.
  • Server / access logs - typical web server logs may be kept temporarily for security and debugging. They are not sold or shared for advertising.
  • Basic site stats - aggregate counts (for example views or downloads) so we can see what is popular and keep the archive useful. These are first-party stats on our systems, not third-party ad networks.

Third parties

Downloads may be hosted on external file hosts or mirrors we link to. Those services have their own privacy practices once you leave OmsiWorld.

If the site shows ads in the future, those providers may set their own cookies - we will update this page if that happens. Right now we do not intentionally use third-party analytics trackers.

Your choices

  • Clear cookies / site data to reset favourites and browsing history on this device.
  • Use an ad blocker or privacy extension if you prefer - core browsing should still work.
  • Do not use Favourites, discussions, or contact if you do not want related data stored.
