Welcome to Gainsborough
Gainsborough is a small market town, located in rural Lincolnshire, some 15 miles north of the couty capital - Lincoln. Public transport in these areas is sparse, compared to other, more densely populated towns and cities in the UK. Making profitable and regular public transport here is a real challenge!

The main operator here is Stagecoach East Midlands - who operate 2 town routes, the 1 and 2, which (pre-covid) each operated every hour, as well as a handful of more rural services to Retford and Doncaster - as well as "Interconnect 100", between Lincoln and Scunthorpe - All of which operate hourly at best.

In OMSI, the network has been somewhat enhanced to make things more caried and busier, whilst trying to keep that rural vibe. The operator is "Lincolnshire Roadcar", who operated almost all services in Gainsborough until they were taken over by Stagecoach, as part of the aquisition of the Yorkshire Traction group in 2005.

Phase 3, see's the completion of Interconnect route 100 as far as Lincoln via Saxilby - a journey time of around 50 minutes, as well as minor tweaks to existing areas from phase 1 and 2. I design my maps to be as light as possible, and so some details have been excluded to ensure it runs smoothly for everyone. My focus with map building is always to re-create the operational side of public transport, rather than re-creating an exact copy of a town, so there are numerous things that are different in the real places to this map - Some intentional, some because of the limitations of OMSI.

In order to get the most from this map, please read the enclosed documentation.

Enjoy!

Installation
Firstly, make sure you have all the above requirements installed – otherwise the map won’t work!
Once you have these, then you should:
Open your OMSI folder (Usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\OMSI 2)
Now open the file you downloaded from Fellowsfilm.com.
Drag and drop the folders (Fonts, Maps, Money, Sceneryobjects, Splines, Ticket Packs, Vehicles) into the OMSI folder.
If you have GAINSBOROUGH PHASE 1 Installed, you will be asked if you want to overwrite some files – this is because the same objects are used across both maps. You can press “yes”. Gainsborough Phase 1 itself will be left untouched, however the tickets, Depot file and some objects will be amended.

Once the files have moved across, you should be ready to go. The map will appear as “Gainsborough Phase 3” in your OMSI menu

Routes & Timetables
The routes included in this map are semi-fictional, although based in reality. A full "Public timetable" can be found within the "Docs" folder for your information, including the timing points you should follow when driving.

Routes included in phase 3 are:
100 - Gainsborough - Lea - Saxilby - Lincoln
A rural service, but linking Gainsborough to the city of Lincoln. In real life, it operates from Scunthorpe to Gainsborough and Lincoln. In OMSI, the main destinations are Lincoln, followed by Gainsborough, presumably for shopping, work, and Education. Buses run every hour from around 7am to 6pm. The journey to Lincoln is around 20 miles, and takes around 50 minutes to complete. A fictional skeleton evening service operates on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as a skeleton sunday service timed to fit around Lincoln shopping hours.

101/102 - Gainsborough - Park Springs Circular
Part of the Gainsborough town network, these circular routes link the town centre to Newlands and Park Springs housing estates. Its a steady 25 minute trundle around some housing estates, with a faily lax timetable - nice and chilled!

103 - Gainsborough - Morton
Part of the Gainsborough town service, route 103 links the town centre to Morton, in the north of the town. Its a short run, around 12 minutes each way, but operates as a cirulcar at the north end, its takes 25 minutes for a round trip. It operates off peak only and just once an hour
104 - Gainsborough - Corringham
This route has been extended to start/end at the bus depot, with a short layover in the depot. It takes around 10 minutes each way, and interworks with service 103 and the 590
590 - Queen Elizabeth High School (School service)
This is a fictional service. You should disable ticketing on this route, as all passengers have pre-paid for their termly bus passes. It links the Park Springs and Newlands estates to the High School in the north of the town, one a day each way.

A few driving tips for Gainsborough...
There are minimal Evening/Sunday services - ensure when loading the map you select a time when buses are actually running (See public timetable document in the download!)
The speed limit is 30mph unless otherwise indicated. Exceed this and you'll get the sack (and have to wait at the next timing point!)
Timings are built around having full ticketing enabled (Including faffing around with change etc), and driving at a realistic speed.

I have tried to create passenger flows in the map. Leaving either Gainsborough or Lincoln during the morning you will be lightly loaded to reflect that most journeys will be into town at that time!

Finally, I have always tried to create realistic passenger volumes in my map. I have been on a couple of reasearch trips to Gainsborough and during these noted to busy and quiet stops on various services and tried to recreate this. Gainsborough is not a big urban city - you only use the bus here if you have no other means of getting around!

Fares Please...
In real life, Gainsborough town has a flat fare system, which is, in my opinion, very cheap compared to journeys in other areas of the UK (£1.70 single, £2.90 Dayrider). Routes on the longer interconnect route vary from around £1.70 in Gainsborough town, up to around £5 for Gainsborough to Lincoln, and £6.80 to cover the Scunthorpe to Lincoln route in full. It is also of note that holders of free bus passes (ENCTS - English National Conncessiory Travel Scheme), are still issued tickets, and I have re-created this in the game.

Fare types are:
Single Fare (£2.40, Child £1.60)
Day Saver (£4.00, Child fare £2.50)
Weekly pass (£9.10 - no child version)
ENCTS pass (£0.00 Zero fare)
Passengers that scan their ticket on the pad are assumed to be day and weekly ticket holders.
The Legal Bit...
Gainsborough is a freeware map. The map should not be offered for sale in any way shape or form. It is available exclusively at www.fellowsfilm.com for download only and must not be hosted on any other websites/servers without my expressed permission.

Should you wish to create customised add-ons for this map, such as stop announcements, replacement AI lists, amended depot files, and such like - provided the original map isn’t included in your download, nor the map itself changed, then you do not need to seek approval.

For changes that are more significant, such as changes to bus routes, changes to the map itself etc, please contact me to confirm permission before uploading your work to any websites. As a general rule, your request will be fine, provided that the original map is left untouched, and the original map is required for your addon to function. The best way to contact me is via message on Fellowsfilm, although at times I may take a while to reply as I am a busy person.

Although every effort has been made to test the map and install process, installation is at your own risk.
Final Words...
Thank you for reading the read me!
I want to say a huge Thank You to all those who have helped in the creation of this map, directly, though helping create content such as bus repaints, custom junctions, carrying out testing, and suggestions for improvements – to those who have helped indirectly, by creating and making their content available to the OMSI community, by creating objects, vehicles, roads, scenery – Gainsborough wouldn’t exist in OMSI if it wasn’t for you!

Finally, I hope this map brings you some enjoyment. Map-making is one of my hobbies and I will always release my maps for free to the community to enjoy. If you do wish to make a donation to help support my efforts in creating add-ons for OMSI or just to buy me a coffee/pint to say thanks, any donations will be gratefully received at https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=Y67R4AN9C6Z6C
Thank you
