The 4GB Patch is a lightweight third-party utility designed to double the memory capacity available to OMSI 2. If you frequently run resource-heavy maps, high-density AI traffic, or custom bus mods, this tool helps prevent out-of-memory crashes and improves overall stability.
To understand how the patch works, it helps to look at how Windows handles system memory:
The 4GB Patch changes a specific setting inside the game executable, allowing 64-bit Windows systems to allocate up to 4GB of RAM to OMSI 2.
The patch modifies a header inside the Omsi.exe file known as the Large Address Aware (LAA) flag. When this flag is enabled, it signals to Windows that OMSI 2 can safely handle memory addresses above the standard 2GB threshold.
OMSI 2 runs smoothly with this modification, making it one of the most effective stability tweaks available for the simulator.
Installing the patch takes less than a minute. Follow these steps:
4gb_patch.exe file directly into your main OMSI 2 folder, though it will work from any directory.4gb_patch.exe, select Run as Administrator, browse to your OMSI 2 installation folder, and select Omsi.exe.Omsi.exe file directly on top of 4gb_patch.exe.Note: The utility automatically creates a backup file namedOmsi.exe.backupin your game folder. If you ever experience issues, delete your modifiedOmsi.exeand remove.backupfrom the backup file name to restore the original game executable.
Because this tool directly edits Omsi.exe, any action that replaces the game executable will undo the patch. This includes:
If either of these occurs, simply re-run the 4GB Patch using the steps above to re-enable 4GB memory access.
